A Poets Task…

The task of a poet,

Is to make the reader read and know it,

To remember for the reader is for the writer,

A Nobel prize winning moment in life…

No actual prize does have to change hands,

The poet has not got to hear a band,

One person remembering their poem,

Is enough to bring happiness and satisfaction to the poet…

We all do write, hoping to be remembered and it’s only right,

We do write of the world, Nature, ourselves and human blight,

We do write of pasts, futures and fantastical in the sky, lights,

We do write of romance and love and sexual pleasure,

We do write of things we do and in our leisure…

A poet’s task is to be remembered,

A poet’s task is to be heard,

A poet’s task is to find joy,

A poet’s task is to give joy,

A poet’s task is to fly like a bird,

A poet’s task is to write of the absurd…

A poet’s task is to WRITE…
