What do dogs dream of...?

Poem Artwork

Do they dream of running and chasing?

Sitting and staying,

With their masters to the gods praying,

Waiting for walks and pacing,

Is this what dogs dream of…?

Do they dream of herding birds?

Dropping in the woods turds,

Protecting their masters,

Barking at squeaky casters,

Is this what dogs dream of…?

OR do they dream darker dreams?

Tracking nighttime creatures,

Growling at the kids teachers,

Sitting with their masters in the bleachers,

Is this what dogs dream of…?

Whatever they dream, may they return,

For they teach their masters how to learn,

As well for their masters they show great concern,

Loyalty from dogs does not have to be earned…

I have wondered too what animals dream of :-) I figure they have nightmares to from what I have witnessed. I had one young pup that would cuddle really close to me after waking up from what appeared to be a distrubing dream.

I think all the above!!

Now that's one of the pictures that inspired that poeM "Pastel Care" for Rufuz!!

"Pastel Care"

Oh my name is RUFUZ
Oh and I sleep in style
On my daddy’s bed and smile
A bed covered in colors of pastel
A place so gentle to be
It caresses my furry skin you see
I am my daddy’s only “next of kin”
And what ever I might inherit
Would be a sin
Like the flea on my skin
I would love to share it
With all my heart in it
But most definitely not
With another bard
Or anybody else with a greenish fart
I may be a big dog now
But only the love of my daddy allow me
To relax on his pastel bed and fart like him
Oh yes so by the way
His name is Ed
That sounds very much like bed
But when I get mad at him
Or my mommy
On those days when mommy share his bed
When they kick me out
I feel like howling it out loud
And say
GET OUT OF THAT BED ED
You’ve got a DOG to fed

I just put you to bed with the other poem and now I guess I have to decipher dog dreams. Don't know about Rufuz, but my mutt that goes by the name of The Nipperdawg dreams about how better he can control each and every though of mine to bend to his devious will. Rufuz probably has similar dreams.

They are the most loyal creatures on earth, and I think we can all learn much from them, as you obviously have done, my friend.
