Poem Artwork

Sometimes we forget,

In this technological world,

Where we would be without,

Our ancestors use of quill and pen,

While we for the most part use our mouse..

Where would we be,

If Shakespeare did not poetry write,

If we were unable to read of Longfellow,

If all past writers, poets and philosophers,

Did only speak of their trade,

Would we then at all write,

As no one would know what poetry was,

I for one would be a great deal less mellow..

To pick up a pen or quill,

Does not in the end demand skill,

It does however require one to have intelligence,

For without some semblance of smarts,

The reader will not find within a thrill,

This leaving the poet or writer,

On the skids and unable to produce,

Giving him no reason, no rhyme, no excuse..

Well put! Quill and pen, indeed. I, for one, have grown too dependent upon my mouse and keyboard. Perhaps I should try actually WRITING again?

Well done, "my Muse is obviously back" friend. And I would be lost, especially without Longfellow, one of my favorites.

Technology has its advantages, that is for sure, like no eraser or white-out required. My writing is so bad that even "I" can't figure out what I was trying to put on the paper. LOL
Take care,
Sherry

I have written all of my six novels' first draft with feather quill and ink. Then second draft I did them on an old Remington Rand Streamliner typewriter using carbon paper, third draft on a word processor and the final draft on my computer I purchased just a year ago from the advice of my agent. The novels are all finished in Microsoft Word, the required format my publisher requests, and so all I do is pick one of my manuscripts off the shelf and send one every six or seven months to my publisher I signed a 5-book deal with. I have spent the last six years writing novels. I have been writing for over twenty years, and professionally for about 8 years. I make my own feather quills from the wild Turkey feathers I pick up on my property and I purchase India ink at the hobby store. Writing with a feather quill slows things down so the writer can actually feel the words. I love how it flows, slow and with great thought. Ed, this is a good write on the thoughts of our forefathers. Thanks.
