“Have you ever thought something great,

But realized over time it was nothing but fish bait…”

…Ed..

Of late I have been having this dilemma,

Is what I write any good or just enough to give one pause,

Do I write for fun, do I write for recognition,

Sometimes I have found that I even write just because…

Am I here on this planet to give mainly pleasure,

I have found by the amount I do so for leisure,

But do they to anyone give insight,

Or merely cause anyone to see into my mind, a fright…

I can tell few DO read what I write,

I hope it does not do to their emotions anything contrite,

I live to write, I write to live, I want to give others insight,

Will I be remembered when gone, will my departure give cause to recite…?

If you take the "i" out of "mainly", this poem's meaning changes entirely.

Excellent flow of thoughts that are, I am sure, quite common to us all.

“Have you ever thought something great,
But realized over time it was nothing but fish bait…”

Probably just about every day - we truly must be brothers. And when I run these great thoughts of mine past my wife, she usually says,
"That stinks!" But hey, we must never give up!

I like the way you dated your write, I was up late and then back up early...first day back at work after two vacation, just like a kid before a big trip. Your work will be remembered my friend, I think we all write sometimes just for fun, and then others are penned from our heart and soul. Loved your line; I live to write, I write to live, I want to give others insight. A beautiful write and a beautiful thought my friend, never lay the pen down and write on!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
