ED - KARLA - and ALL VETS -

The number of zeroes is almost mind-boggling, but I think I did the math correctly -

IF there are One Million Veterans,
and each was simply given an even $100,000 -
the Total cost to the government and taxpayers
would be a mere One hundred Billion Dollars - $100,000,000,000 -

That figure is only 1/7 - One seventh of the over $700,000,000 BAIL-OUTS !!!

NO STRINGS - NO CATCHES - NO HIDDEN REQUIREMENTS - FREE !!!

$100,000,000 TO EACH AND EVERY VETERAN -
No matter what war, what age, what circumstances -
FREE -

Some of this money would save HOMES, FAMILIES, CHILDREN, WIVES, HUSBANDS ...

Some would be SPENT on - Food, Clothing, Shelter, Medicines, Cars, Job Training ...

A few dollars or pennies might even be - Saved, Deposited, Invested ...

Talk about a BOOST to the Economy ...

REAL BOOST ... HUMANE BOOST ... CARING BOOST ...

... but what do I know? I'm just a dumb irish Mick ...

a former Reservist - a Six-Month Wonder - a Six Year Obligation (their Contract) - completed as prescribed - an Honorable Discharge Earned - but guess what?

NO VETERANS BENEFITS - NONE! No G.I. Bill - No Commissary Privileges - No Life insurance - No Medical coverage - NUTTIN' HONEY !!!

YET - I would vote FOR giving this $100,000 to Each & Every Veteran - THEY EARNED IT !!!

The situation is grim isn't it? Come to Canada eh! We even have nice housing for vets at around $200.00 a month rent, and all the services you require are covered here. It's not utopia but it is fair and just. For the most part, we honor our vets and look up to them in admiration for their strength and commitment toward our Country and its freedoms. Wish it were the same for you.

Lil'brother, you said "...now lets do something for our troops that will always last..." if "they" would do it, committed themselves and work work work to help Veterans health and Veterans problems, that will be the day I stop being cynical about all of it.
But every promise that came out of every President could be translated as "screw you!"

Hi Ed, Even if there was never another war, and we never sent another troop out, we still have our vets that need the help from the government that sent them out. It's sad... so sad...

Ed, dear Ed!

The problem is, those in charge have never served. They don't know the meaning of sacrifices made (and paid) by the troops or their families, the lifetime cost of war. Thank you for standing with me on this important issue - our Veterans, those who've served should lack for NOTHING. Well penned.
