"What luck for the rulers that men do not think."

Poem Artwork

War is only worth killing,

Money is only worth billing,

Farm land is only worth under tilling,

Food is not even anymore filling…

The damn hippies were right,

They knew way back then of the light,

But under boots they were crushed,

They were called back then the blight…

Make love, not war,

War is just bloody gore,

Our world is now dying,

The hippies back then weren’t lying…

Can we as a people change,

I’m ashamed to say we’ve gone past that range,

Future generations, if any, will be short-changed,

This world we now reside in is quite very strange…

Yes, the hippies saw their wasteful parents and a futile war and tried to do right. Unfortunately, later generations loved the music, but forgot.

I remember the 60's so I must not have tripped out far enough. (a bit too young actually) to know what was going on but you have said it well here. We knew the important stuff and too that we had little power. So sad. Great write, J'nia

Can't believe it's hopeless, Ed. Look at what a bunch of kids did. Seemed as though there was a gentle wave that built momentum into a Tsunami. Some of the seeds planted then are just now pushing through earth. Can't help thinking that the "end of the world" people are talking about may well be the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT. If so, then good riddance! These systems that no longer serve mankind will fall by the wayside and make room for a better one. Peace...

Well us old hippies may have smoked a wee bit of dope but we could see the writing on the wall about what war and a lack of respect for our environment would do...

There was a wise man that shouted, "stop the world, I want to get out!"
Turning at 2.300 mph I recon my world is going too fast to nowhere.
