This is quite excellent Ed! When my mom was in the hospital in February it was the volunteers who were there to take some of the personal load off the nurses who were maxxed out. Good for you! Patrick

This is a great poem, where you truly share your heart. Volunteering at the hospital as you relate it, will be a wonderful gift you can give. I gotta tell you, though, it won't influence God about your salvation.
You see, He said in the Bible, (and it's the verse that helped me most in coming to God) "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It's the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." Jesus already did all the work necessary when He willingly died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He took our punishment. What we have to do is believe and accept the free gift of salvation. THEN, the good works we do in His name will be beautiful thank-yous to our Savior.

Li'l brother, you can't start to imagine the gift you are going to give to those poor souls that need a kind word and a tender gesture. Being constricted to a bed, sick, worried, alone...and here comes a friendly face? Yes little brother, this is payback time and you will be paying back with gold.

You are doing a beautiful thing and the rewards will be many. I used to do volunteer work with children and adults with cerebral palsey and epilepsy for many years and they taught me to see through a different set of eyes. God bless you...
