I may NOT be fully enlightened, yet…

Of older age I do know that I have arrived,

Still but a child in comparison to some,

Knowledge that others older than I still has yet to come,

I’ve not, like them, through longer years survived…

 

Last summer (almost 1 year to the day) I almost died,

And this summer I seem to have lost what I did learn,

I have yet to make Rene my blushing bride,

As for her, I have a constant and everlasting concern…

 

But I still do grow and even sometimes I do achieve,

Of others I have grown to love & lost, I do grieve,

I’ve also gained of new others, of this I did not conceive,

My life is truly better & brighter, re-finding God & His works,

I am most happy and content that of this life, last year, I did not leave…

WAHOO!!! And we are, too, Ed... VERY GLAD!!!! :)) I can relate fully to every word, having been there and back again, stared death in the face, had an illness which has robbed me of so much learning and memory capacity... YET counting my blessings each and every day, grateful for a greater level of awareness and eager zest for life and for taking on the challenges that still await.... Upwards and onwards, young man, as we are all singing your tune xxxxxx

Ed, I don't think any of us are "fully enlightened"...it's a journey, and we learn little by little and day by day...your thoughts are beautiful.

When one is given a second chance for life, it's time to wake up and give up the careless lifestyle. You've come a long way in the past year...through the many, many prayers of your friends to God for your recovery. Keep on keeping on with medical advice and faith, my friend; you'll gain much more of life...and live longer!!
