Ed, So typical of you to write exactly what all of us are thinking.... However, similar to R. Cederberg, I too have what I refer to as "my portable brain." It's a tiny little digital thing, but I can record up to 300 messages on it. They are very inexpensive now-a-days and it's been my salvation time & time again when some brainstorm hit me.

I use it all the time, keep it beside my bed at night and in my pocket when I leave the house. It's great when I'm driving and need to make a quick note, cause it's so easy to use that it doesn't distract me from driving. I couldn't survive without it. Dick

Great replacement from a true poet

I just get out of bed and jot it down. If I'm not in bed I reach for the small writing tabled I keep in my shirt pocket (yes, you can still find shirts with pockets) and write down my thoughts. No excuse, buddy.

I know what to buy you for Christmas then bubba brain fade. I have the same affliction (at the most inopportune times) and have found a cure for it. A little inexpensive digital recorder. Now, when I have a brainy creative idea, (that I know i'll never forget but do so an hour later) I just record it. That way when I'm ready to write it, i just refresh meself. If I don't like it, I can erase it, if I can't add anything to it then I fast for a day as penance for pretending to be a poet.

The very best place to compose,
Is on one's comfortable throne;
So go sit in there, and ruminate,
And soon, out will flow your poem!
