He suffered little,
Though mostly blind,
And his hearing gone,
He was well loved by mom & dad,
As well loved him was his Uncle Ed…
Barked when he wanted something,
Played like a puppy up to the end,
He may have been quite blind,
But he always knew me, kisses he gave to my nose…
He gave me a replacement when Rufuz left,
Always was he there to pet & love,
It’s a shame when a doggy goes to heaven,
But for his mom & dad he will be there,
At Rainbow Bridge one day to welcome them,
Then they will play with & love him once again…

This touched my heart more than you know. I've been there when a beloved pet dies. You know they are in no more pain, but it still hurts. God Bless you.

I understand and sympathize. I have a precious dog name Blacie..had for about six years. He's getting older and I can tell the difference in his energy level now till then. A pet that is close to you is not just a 'pet', he's part of the family. In fact, Blackie runs this household. Lol I'm so sorry about Smokey. It feels like part of your heart is gone when a pet leaves. Rainbow Bridge is a 'perfect poem to give some hope to the grieving ones over a lost pet. I love that poem.
Blessings,
