Poem Artwork

I’ve no memory of every one,

Just a few or maybe just some,

They seem to be part & parcel of my being,

Its sometimes hard for me to of them be seeing…

Memories of being whipped by dad,

Trying to araound me not be mad,

I was young & stupid, but its not my fault,

Was he mad at me, or himself,

For the way he raised me when he did of me assault…

Protected “sometimes” by mom, then not,

Like good cop/bad cop, they played off each other,

Mom too tried but was never really a good mother,

I stayed out of the house as much as I could,

But in a small town like Sea Isle, everything was out found,

When young I ran away a lot, never wanted to be around,

More than anything I guess I was running from myself, started then doing pot…

Yep it was those bad days that left us with scars but hopefully they are now behind you. You have a thick skin but the memory doesn't.

So many try to escape the horrors they have endured
through whatever method worked for them at that time...
A sadness that happens more often than naught...

I can relate in that I was exposed to alcoholism of an
Aunt and Uncle who were quite cruel to me...
I stayed gone as often as I could too and hoped by the
time I arrived back home they were passed out...

Let it out! That's the only way to get rid of it! Write hurts on stones and throw them into the sea! No matter how you get rid of "stuff", get rid of it, hon.

Love ya!

It's good that you're able to let your anger from the past out. While I only got punished when I was bad––and that was too often, I hear you.

And I thought you were screwed (out of money) by a priest, egad!
