Poem Artwork

When traveling & not driving,

Instead to sleep I am striving,

I awaken with a start,

With the scent of the sea,

Meaning we are arriving,

At home for me…J

Old school soap,

Does remind me of days by gone,

The school now torn down,

Still with the memory, it helps me to better cope…

Certain foods do bring back memories good,

That is the way good scents should,

Some scents bring on a nasal wrinkle,

But, for the most part the sea scent can as well help me,

To sleep the sleep of Rip Van Winkle…J

Yes bacon and eggs and the fresh scent of coffee always remind me of very happy days, be it by the ocean or in an apartment up high, with my wife. Clever write, of which you have many.

Ed, It is funny how good and bad scents bring back memories.

Though I've been there a few times, I have never smelled the sea. The smell of rotting seaweed or dead fish does permeate the air in some places.

You must have some snozz!

Every time I go to Rhode Island I know that sea scent means we're very close to the bay where I have family. I love it!

Love ya!

Smell truly is a powerful thing and can bring on many memories - both good and bad. I still wake up in a cold sweat when I think I smell your dirty diapers - then I look around and realize it's just a terrible old childhood nightmare!!

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
