Self-examination....

NO, I am NOT at the moment depressed,

I just feel I need to talk this out with

myself & that is what I am doing...

Poem Artwork

I’ve prayed of late,
And wished to the utmost degree,
For if I am to die in the not so distant future,
Let God take me & allow not a physician to over me toil…

I love life, for the most part, I truly do,
But it seems that all I see lately is my eventual demise,
I don’t consider myself again depressed,
I’m just being honest with myself as I see life through these old eyes…

I honestly feel I have lived long enough,
Though life has been at times quite tough,
Everyone goes through scenes that are rough,
And I think I know why God has left me alive,
I still haven’t let go of one major problem,
Though I have given up so many, this one too I do derive…

If anyone can in anyway show me the right path,
I wish they would do so and get it over with,
Please God don’t still hold over me your wrath,
I repent to the best of my ability,
Let Mr. Death come and remove from me this mortal coil,
Before further I am in this body & of life spoil.

There is still something you were put here to do or someone to touch or help. Hang in there, my friend.

Love ya!

There is no surety that you will die with the same pain and anguish that plagued you in life. We all pray to die in our sleep. You and I may be the lucky ones.

We're only here for a little while, so we try to make the best life we can for ourselves. The trick is to end up with the right regrets. Just hang in there, you're still on the right side of the sod.

There is a traditional saying in Islamic culture that says: Engraved into the foundation of the Throne of God are the words: "My Mercy precedes My Wrath." I hope those are comforting words. They certainly are for me. John

Since I'm in my nineties those thoughts prevail in my mind.
Repentance is the key and you have found it, all else is in God's hands.

I can empathize with your sentiments, Ed; I have been there and maybe lower than you would believe. I believe in angels and they have intervened along the way (one in particular was called away way too soon and I took her for granted, thinking she would always be here). Right now, I am beginning to be resigned to the fact that I am not allowed to be with a girl/woman now with whom I have been in love forever. I'm not giving up (although I have been close to doing so in the past), I keep hoping. Love is eternal... ...and love is like snowflakes; it has many forms. It is not all about romantic and sensual love (although for me, that is huge). Take care and get there, my friend. Love and peace,

Regis

I am sure you will get plenty of advice from this important piece of poetry. The only thing I can add is to read my testimony. After my first wife died I did not want to live anymore. I prayed that I would find meaning in my life. I sure did and I never regretted it ever more. I pray you find meaning too Ed; I really do. Amen

I'm older than you, Ed, and for years the first thing I woke up to in the morning was that I would soon die. That has been awhile back. Don't believe in God, but I do belive I am happier now than I ever have been. Hang in there, cowboy!
