Clearing out some cobwebs...

Have you ever written something and thought you might have written it before?

Poem Artwork

Have you ever come to the realization?

That your entire life so far has been a farcical waste,

Your humor while funny to you, was to others, infantile,

Your sarcasm, obnoxious,

Your knowledge of life’s intricacies bulbously  blown out of proportion…

You or dare I say, I,
Have over the years,
Alienated my family,
Not one blood relative,
Will have anything to do with me…

It’s been over ten years since last I’ve to my cousins spoken,

Our relationship, through no fault of theirs is permanently broken,

They were tired of me, what relationship we last had was merely token,

Oh well, I’ve learned my lesson, but in the process my cousins from me were stolen.

They most probably didn't understand your wit or want to hear the truth. Some family is better left in the wind. And if they stood together in a group, blaming you, then you didn't need them in the first place. I know from experience that people like scapegoats. My family has always been kind to me, but never the in-laws and their group. I'm happier without them. Enjoy the friends who appreciate you and care about you.

I haven spoken to one soul in my family for way over ten years, and what's more, I do not want to.

For the most part, I've never been close to my family. Even if I did give them a call, I wouldn't know what to say.

A harsh realization that you are sharing with us. I'm glad that you are coming to your senses even after all this time. We only have ourselves to blame for our misdeeds.

A sad fact of life, Ed. Relationships in this world/life can be fragile at the best of times, and true friendship is a rare treasure. Love and peace,

Ed - Sandie & Jane & John are right.

Make the calls. Even if only one person reconciles with you, it is an improvement.
If not ... Fuggetaboutit !

I've been an asshole many times in my life. That is life. We are all human & make mistakes. Drop back 5 and punt !

Hell - cobwebs may be all that's holding your grey matter together ?

Face it Bunky - we were all once - Young & Thin & Cute ...
Now we are - Old & Fat & Ugly !!! Duh ?

✌🏻❤️ ✌🏻

Ed, try doing what Sandie writes. I've felt that way and forced myself to pick up the phone. At least if they hang up on me, I can scratch that one off my "wish" list! Try it! Good luck, my friend.

Love ya!

Relations with relatives can be a tricky business. Mending fences can be a good thing. Otherwise, it's all as you say "stolen".

All of us have moments of regrets, but that doesn't mean we have to suffer the regrets for the rest of our lives. I won't dwell on that too often if I were you. Perhaps your family is missing you as much as you miss them. A call to them may solve the mystery.

Hugs,
Sandie
