Cherian Andrews (Feb 25 1917 -- Oct 21 2013)
He lived a full life of ninety seven and a half more
A life it was of acquiring and giving.
All that he strived to get was knowledge
And more of it
And more of it
What he gave others was service
Each day of it
Each day of it
Forty years of life spent working,
A good son, householder, social service did many
The rest of 37 years eagerly writing , reading
Each day he could
Each day he could
Gardening was his keep fit regime
Silently communed with his plants and flowers
Unable to read or write just the last few days
“What good it is to live like this, I must soon go” he said.
His mind strong, the memory too,
I closely looked at his face at this ripe age
But not a wrinkle I could see
While body that was slowly giving away
Each new day, he sank a little
We could see him go bit by bit
First stopped walking, then the talking,
Like Moon changes each day in the sky
Saw his cheerful spirit waning by the day
This powerful patriarch, poet ,lyricist, writer fell silent now
How much he enjoyed a life to write
In the wee hours of the morning bright
Stories of valour of early years
How to work hard when tides against you flow
A biography of his father and a bust he erected too
What a worthy life he lived
He, the big heroic role model brother of my father dear
A long life actively lived each day
What an example in life you set and go
May your great soul now rest in peace
J K Roseline
may he rest in peace and may you and family find
the peace of mind and keep him in your hearts
Love & be with you
