What Is Life

what is this thing
this thing we do
this thing called life
of me and you

of flesh and brow I won't attest
for it will see it's duly rest
the force inside, the soul's own nest
let's examine for this simple test

by God or nature, from cosmic rust
was made into a special dust
a body, flesh and bone to touch
but flesh and bone was not enough

was Me breathed in from the air
that made Me then to be aware
to observe all else from mine own eyes
to be aware, to be alive

but here's a simple test to try
so try this now, but try it slow
and put away all you know

Now,
close your eyes, don't see a thing
close your ears, don't hear a thing
close your mind, don't think a thing
close your mouth, don't speak a thing
hold your breath, don't breathe a thing
just be still, don't move a thing

now the only thing you know
you are there and you alone
now the answer can't you see
just be here and just to be
and to know that I am only Me

so what is life, that was the question
well here's the answer, after observation

life is an answer without a question
life's just to be
there is no question.
