I have often wondered what makes me "me" and you "you", why am I who I Am and not you.

The Me I Am

if I wasn't me, who would I be
I guess I'd be another me
but if I was another me
I would not know the other me

how sad the only me I'll know
is the me I am, the me I know
the me I am would like to know
is there another me to know

if there's another me to know
where is that me, I just don't know
that me somewhere, I'd like to know
I'll find that me that I don't know

I'll search above and search below
to find that me that I don't know
if I find that me below
I'll ask that me if me he knows

then that me and me would know
is there another me to know
and then the me will finally see
it's only me, the me I am

Daniel, first I want to thank you for your comment on my poem "Be Yourself." Your poem "The Me I Am" indicates that you are searching to know yourself. Self-discovery is the answer. No, you will not need to be another me.That is impossible. You have been wonderfully created. You came into this world unique and perfect, at that stage. Socialization and an attempted dehumanization changed that. But re-socialization can be overcome and you can come to appreciate the you that you were created to be. Be yourself.
