The poem is based upon the season of winter.

Poem Artwork

The month of Winter is coming,
It is coming,
I can feel it deep in my bones,
Penetrating through, deep inside of me,
Oh you the observer, what can you see and what can you feel?
What can you feel more than I? Than I, I the suffer,
The one who feels the pain, the pain that has a kind of joy inside,
Inside, like a tree trapped in a seed;

Oh! my fullest potentials, why lie thee in the deep ocean?
Why lie down when the sun is shining? The sun rises higher through the horizon;

Wake up, awaken ye who are alive, awaken and take that which belongs to you,
Then let not the month, the season, the word winter,
Knock you down by surprise, take it down instead by experience,
Rather knock it down by reason, don't take it down by emotion,
Don't take it down by feelings either.

You are right in the opening statement Ronald. "Since nowhere is the true feeling of winter in Africa except in the high mountains like Kilimanjaro and the Atlas Mountains in the north,"

"...to my knowledge, I believe you are writing in metaphor." Since I'm a realist myself, I've been living in Europe for more than ten years, therefore I'm talking from experience; rather than from mere imagination.

Winter here represents the lowest point in existence, where one must struggle to keep ahead of the cold and move forward into the sun and light. I really like the last two lines because logic and reason is much more powerful to solving problems that a motion.

An interesting poem with some sound advice in this world of frivolity. I especially like your image of "a tree trapped in a seed." Brilliant. Also, knocking down the winter in us well serves your point. Excellent work.
