Poem Artwork

He who is in love is wise and is becoming wiser, sees newly every time he looks at the object beloved, drawing from it with his eyes and his mind those virtues which it possesses.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) U.S. poet, essayist and lecturer.

 ...............................................................................................................................

The bluebirds are perched precariously on the telegraph lines

symbols of divine love, and the bond between heaven and earth

as I cycle leisurely  down the bramble covered lane

warm summer sunshine, lengthening my shadows in front of me

bumble bees humming incessantly, on the deep red flowering pyracantha

as I muse and turn over the rules of engagement in my mind

I am a very patient man, and I can wait until eternity

until our time is right, and written conclusively by a superior hand

and there is a place I love to go, a little further down the picturesque road

where the wild orchids grow, and each evening there is a cicada chorus

I park my bike beside the style, still listening to my I Pod

the hard edged tones of Steely Dan, harmonizing through my head

and I could write a tome of words, about how I feel about you

I settle down on my favorite spot, sheltered by pink and red dogwoods

as the whispering winds come sweeping down, the red sandstone canyon

while a golden oriole sings with joy and courage, from upon a thorny gorze bush

and I know within my core, our song of love will neither falter or waver

for you are the center of my world, the main artery to my heart

Oh Peter!
This is purely glorious!
A precious glimpse into your precious world!
I was immersed in the beauty of the word flow and beauty of the beauty!
Your writing is superbly unique; highlighted by your exclusion of full stops. The heart pauses and continues in your words as if living the experience! Such a great idea and master touch!
I bow in respect.

If we could balance our lives like the birds on a wire. Then just "drop" all our burdens on the heads of those who mean us no good (smile).

But that's God's job. . .(the dropping on the heads part :-)

Peter,
How fabulous to have the inner knowledge and ability to quite simply love this way, at so many evidently different levels... a truly wonderful poem!

Love is all encompassing Peter...and in the glory you have described, it is no wonder that you look to heaven for timing and and His blessing in this lover's quest. I have to tell you that my own yard was full of spring dogwood blossoms, forsythia, pyracantha espallied walls, although orange...and in the woods surrounding me, wild orchids, the wee delicate ones, bloom profusely. Now all I need is a secret patch of morel mushrooms...but they have eluded me.

Such a romantic ride.

Love,
Taylor

If others can read this pen and see the association between pure love, nature and God's generous vision for earth then we'll all be on the path to world harmony. You have the solution right here in yout verse and it's beautiful.

Nicely done! it's a new age! i do believe this is the first poem i've read that mentions an IPOD

can you imagine how confused a generation millenia from now would be if they don't know what an IPOD is and read your words of love?

:P

yeah, i'm weird, i think of things like this

Peter...To say patience is a virtue, has been given its truest meaning, in this breathtaking glimpse of a man truly in love!

Your heart carries the hallmark of Divinity, and then, allows the world at large, to partake of your feast. Extraordinary!

On a lighter note, I also admire R. WALDO EMERSON - as well as, the floral bouquet.

I truly admire your work, Peter. May God bless you [us!] with many many more!

love&prayers, Rhonda

When you put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, to write something profoundly wonderful, you never, ever fail in that endeavor. This is just one more example. To write of waiting for "the right time" without one line of whining, is just hard to do.

I want to see the place where the wild orchids grow! Wild orchids! I was thrilled to see a garden with calla lilies when I was in San Diego a few months ago...actually, I think the calla lilies were planted outside a Burger King, but they were still in the ground, outside and thriving! You just don't see that in Missouri. But enough about that...this is yet another beautifully romantic work! Now, about those wild orchids...
