Mood Setter

.............................................................................

I fell for you, from the moment I first saw you

the new feisty barmaid, in my favorite hostelry in town

you were poetry in motion, with a body you would die for

fluid, sylph like symmetry, and you knew how to walk the walk

and to my adoring eyes, you were perfect in every way

with that winning smile, and bubbling and infectious enthusiasm

I just knew then, I wanted you in my life

even though, you were from the better part of town

I never ever would, let anything get between what I wanted

up and at them, was always my usual direct way

until you came along, and split all the guys in the pack

for you were extraordinary, of that there was no doubt

you had eyes for me, and the feeling was distinctly mutual

but we both were quite content, to be good buddies and friends

though deep inside, the fires of attraction burned strong

yet time and circumstances, just seemed to get in the way

and we never quite made the grade, of a fully fledged pair

you knew just how to get under my skin, in tune with my every mood

lifting my spirits, with just an improvised sing song

those halycon years, when time lasted forever

and you and I, shared something that is seldom found

and I always surmised, that things would stay the same

until that heartstopping day you said, you were leaving for new pastures

even then I believed, we would always remain in touch

but fate and destiny intervened, and tore us apart

for when you went your way, I went mine

and never the twain, would meet again

those liaisons that we take for granted

are often the ones, that are snatched away

Bittersweet, yet lovely and honest, Peter, and such beautiful thoughts to hold onto. Memories are cherished like diamonds and are ours forever. No one can ever take them away. As a friend, I'm so thankful you knew her.
Many hugs,
CJ

I suppose memories are better than nothing but they can bring a flutter of wistful sadness to the heart. Nicely done, Peter. Love and peace,

Exceptional write, Peter, that captures the forlornness each of us experiences somewhere in our lives.

The last two lines are memorial.

How sadly true, for very many. And you've just reminded me of a similar female who once captivated my heart and soul, in what seems like another lifetime now.

Life truly does contain many memorable moments, and you've penned one of yours extremely well, Peter.

So true Peter, it oft raises the question wether fate has someone else lined up...or not. Moving rememberance my friend.

timing can be so important in a relationship ... much depends on the energy we apply to stimulate its continuing presense or sometimes is just fate that pulls us away from it remaining vital in our lives ... and then all we can do is move on ...

So many people we encounter throughout our lives , yet there is always those that make a lasting impression whom we tuck away in our hearts forever. Timing isn't always on our side. Excellent Peter!

Magnanimous one ...

I love that word "sylph" especially when it is used in context to those elemental souless females that inhabit the atmosphere. Don't hear it often. Goodun!

Shall we tip a glass then to those ephemeral moments that hang unchallenged in the halls of our memories. Those moments and friends that remain forever etched into us.

Such a remarkable and mysterious journey life is Sir Peter the Poignant. A great write, a steady hand, and an enlightened quill.

Kudos and Benisons ...

Bird in the hand's worth two in the pasture, Peter! But no one can ever take away your memories, even of the wrens that flew away. It's a sure thing they have memories of you.
