Poem Artwork

“Follow that will and that way which experience confirms to be your own.”

Carl Gustav Jung

..............................................................

Down the cobble stone lane, carrying my goods and soul

graffiti adorned walls, greet me everywhere

nowhere is sacred anymore, the signs of decadence growing

as a house sparrow, whistles defiantly perched on a ledge

his companion responds with a trill, way up on the eaves

and I allow my spirit, to find its own level

amidst the chaos and anarchy, of 21 st suburbia

maintaining my grip on reality, is a daily overture

devising new philosophies, to cope with the encroachment

I have always been a survivor, never taken myself doggone seriously

betwixt the natural and the supernatural, you will always see me glean

my feet are moving flawlessly, I have had a lifetime of practice

making sure the load is balanced, the fulcrum is the ballast

watching the red ivy grow, its suction pads upon the stone

resilience unquestioned, from its head to its toes

I marvel at the synchronicity of nature, they seldom get it wrong

from the hard working ant, to the effortless gliding of the swift

make sure your moral compass is set, on auto pilot from within

registering divine pathos, for every creature in sight

And I’ll leave you with this parting shot

just stay light hearted every time

Listen to the sounds of silence. Each generation has its trials, and nature continues to perfect.

Peter,

Another superb delivery!

"betwixt the natural and supernatural, you will always
see me glean"

Your ability to keep everything properly balanced, makes you the
king of survivors -and poetry- that you are!

And I heartily agree with Dr. Lilly, regarding the condition of our condition...

Love&Blessings, Rhonda

Light hearts enliven the soul and energise the sorrounding aura, augmenting the sphere of light and bathing the world in sunshine, Peter... as does the acute observation and wisdom in this write. Laughter brings health to the bones, like birdsong. Go West Young Man!! I shall soon be at Lands' End, but life is DEFINITELY more paced with time and civility shared among fellow journeymen down here in deepest Doorrrrrrrrrrseeeeett. Yep, know well that of which you speak - eloquently. TY K xx

A fantastic write about creeping decadence and nature repelling it. I would guess nature will win in the end, when encroaching society is underground and those who kept the light in sight reign. Well done.

Peace. Joyce

A cancer has eaten away our social and moral fabric of society as it becomes more divisive everyday, misery and suffering are predominant...yet there is always light...this poem guides toward that light, thank you Peter. Excellent.

your compass is directed in many directions, Peter ... guiding, teaching, leading to the light while echoing off walls that have no shape but house the spirit in motion ...

The job of a "Light Stepper" is to leave a little posphorous behind. You've done an excellent job on doing just that, Peter. An awesome poem!

Wouldn't it be wonderfully if we were all equipped with that moral compass? Unfortunately so many or not and sadly that they aren't is not always of their doing...but this does not make it easier to watch the deterioration.... wonderful piece!

Lighthearted it is, my man, even in the darkest of night, the howling of the wind, the shifting of the earth's sxis, the Raven knock, knock, knocking on my door, will I forever and always be . . . Lighthearted. Marvelous poetry. Better message.

Sir Peter ...

The internal rot has manifested itself on the surface. It is a rampant disease that is afflicting every walk of life on every level of affluence, decadence, and poverty. The threads of the fabric are unraveling at an uprecedented rate.

And aside from these perfunctory thoughts I can neither add nor subtract from Daivies biting insights below.

Light hearted is getting more and more to be a discipline garnered in the glow of arcadian contentment - not in the cities.

In fraternity and vision ...

I have strolled that same path, Peter. I look beyond the graffiti to the mentality that put it there and wonder, 'why have we decayed in morality rather than advanced?' Where was this mentality when i was a kid in th 1960s? Where did it spring from? No such distortion has impacted upon the ant, it still functions exactly the same with the same mentality intact. Likewise with the Ivy, still climbing the wall as ever and in the exact same manner. It is only the human creature that has created a world that seems to consist of wall to wall conflict. Jesus tells us not to be troubled but to look up for our redemption draws near. That's our hope, and with that we 'just stay light hearted every time'.
Thanks for a poem in which I found myself walking alongside you.
