Sub Duty

We laugh, and talk
but they are only empty gestures.
The roughness of our language,
hides the pain in our souls.

The stories of things,
we've done...
or wished we had
are often colored with slight untruth.

No malice intended.

They salve our minds,
and shield us from the harsh realities
of our existance.

The shields we lift
to block the pain
are heavy burdens for us all.

So let us be,
in our created worlds.
We mean no harm, in our jests
to each other.

We only let off the pressures
of our confinement

In our world of grey and white
and navy blue,
there are few amusements.

To often, we turn
to rend and tear
to hide our pain from prying eyes.

The rules of our game,
allow such and those who understand,
survive with minimal pain.

Anger is foolish.
We are all here,
nowhere else.

We must do what we must,
to ensure harmoneous,
if somewhat rambunctious,
coexistance.

Michael,

An excellent write with much wisdom beneath the surface. (Sorry--couldn't resist. LOL)

But not me, said the flea--don't hem me up in one of those subs or I'd go ballistic!!!!!!!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

BTW, thank you, Sir, for serving your country. This old AF Medic appreciates it and salutes you!

The Steel Chains of Love by Rose Rideout

I have taken pride in writing this novel as so many people have the wrong impression on bikers because they dress in leather clothing which is to protect themselves in case of an accident. The majority of bikers are known Policemen, Firemen, Doctors,
