If We  Meet Again

I may hug you too tightly,

if I meet you on the street

Stammer, stutter and giggle

Like a schoolboy if we meet

My fingers may linger on your skin,

a little bit too long

They may even start to tremble

Believe me nothings really wrong

My lips may press a little longer ,

than I know they really should

More than simple friendship may demand

but my heart’s just not made of wood

You may see teardrops falling

when its time to say goodbye

Please don’t assume that they’re for you

They could be raindrops in my eye

If I forget and say: “I love you!”

when we begin to walk away

Maybe it was just my heart speaking

the words I really want to say…

This poem touched me deeply. Being in love with a friend and not being able to express the feelings is a double edged sword. A poignant story told beautifully. Lydi**

Good write. It brings up memories of those times in life where we cared a bit more for someone then they wanted from us. I do know that feeling. Every year when I go to my daughters where I use to live there is that special exchange with someone. A romance that almost got off the ground. Lady J

Somehow, dear Fee, this brings a lump to my throat... because it's so very touching, and then, a big, warm smile from the heart to my lips... because it's so very sweet. And... I do believe she will hear those words from your heart very clearly, even if the lips fail to utter them, my friend.

Dear Fee,

When the heart speaks, the words can be trusted and it's never too late to say "I Love You".

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*

Fee,

Few can pen romance like you; you pour heart and soul into each word and make the reader feel the poem, not just read. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Excellent choice of words to convey this simple tale of love. Your metaphors are really good and help bind the piece together. Enjoyed!

this makes me want to sing a million songs.
maybe... dont get me wrong by the pretenders most of all.

dont get me wrong
if im acting sorta distracted
im thinking about the fire works
that go off when you smile

i think seeing an old 'love' in the street would have to be the most awkward thing.
i somehow manage to fall for boys who arent in the same country as me which, while the leaving part sucks, means i dont have to bump into them in the street and cry or kiss them or whatever i would do.
but when your heart hasnt quite moved on like the other persons has... well... that makes everything so rough...

if you see me walkin down the street
and i start to cry each time we meet
walk on by... walk on by

a million songs...
