Since our grandchildren came along we have taken turns with having them over for sleepovers and I have eaten my share of burnt toast but to wake to see those smiling little faces looking at you expectantly I would eat even all the burnt toast in the world...

Burnt Toast and Buttercups

By: Poppy

Burnt toast and buttercups

Served on a tray

Made me breakfast in bed

To sweetly start off my day

Little blue eyes sparkle

With extra serving of love

She’s smiling at Poppy

Like stars up above

Time to get up now Poppy

We’ve a park to explore

Let’s get going early

So we can play even more

Remember money for ice cream

For when it gets too hot

Come on now Poppy

Have you already forgot?

It’s my Saturday sleepover

Today you and Nanny are mine

So get out of the bed Poppy

Time to rise and shine...

They don't stay little long, grow up and go away. My oldest is in Washington DC> but getting married Oct 3 09, so will get to that, waiting for it in fact. All 9 grandkids of mine are loved, remembered, prayed for and thought about each day. Know you do the same with yours, and Treating them to ice cream really makes their day.

Nothing like the unconditional love of a grandchild. The beams of love that shine through are one of a kind, as is your poem above. Well Done! Deborah

As cute as can be, this poem brings to the imagination a little face bright with the expectations of fun with Poppy. Grandchildren!-- one of life's greatest blessings and the reward of "maturing"
I love the title, too.

Oh Poppy Fee what we don't do for the love our Grandchildren shower us with, as I said before they are our rewards for loving our children as we have. A beautiful write and I am sure as they get older and read these words, they will appreciate and love you all the more. thank you for sharing.
