Gray Skies and Beach Stones

By: Felix Perry

I walked with the wind, on a cold winter’s day

Nodded casually to a gray cloudy sky

Shook hands with the waves as shyly they neared

Listened as the storm surf whispered a sigh

Kicked the snow from a chair

that looked out of place there

summer colors didn’t match with

the winter skies and my silver gray tear

Fog rolled cross all that was in sight

I pulled my old parka tight

Smiled noticing I wasn’t alone

As I watched an old sea gull alight

Then I turned my back to the wind

It was time now to once more begin

To deal with day to day’s reality

Lock away “could have beens”

Those haunting broke dream trade-ins

For old love is just old history…

with great heart you wrote this poem Felix -- life and love are in the moment and in all of the moments of our yesterdays -- for hearts care not in what time they play -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Theres nothing like that vast infinity of surf and sea to put life back into perspective. Well written poetry here, Fee.

Yes, old history. This write and it's vivid imagery brought me back to the beach, Fee. What is it about the ocean that puts our lives in perspective? Or does it just relax us to the point where we can see things so much more clearly?

I can relate as you know Fee. I have had many days and nights like this. But old memories are old history. Let us live for today because we don't have anything else. Tomorrow may come, but don't count on it, so we do today what we can to live as happily as we can. This is a fine poem of feelings and emotions that we have to deal with. And you have dealt with them by taking a walk along the shore. There is peace there isn't there? Thank you for sharing

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Fee,
I think we all have those sad moments of goodbye to parts of our past. You made this beach come alive. The perfect place to do some thinking. Hugs,
Sheila

One almost feel the chilly breeze intruding inside the collar and shoulders come up like a boxer's guard.
Nice to see you sprawling those old sailor's thoughts.

Fee, this is rich ... I can hear the lapping of gentle waves, feel the brisk air, the solitude (save one lone gull), and the emotion, the memories of what might have been and the cold snap back into reality. This was wonderful and one I will put in my library. Well done! Hugs, Elizabeth
