life's anemic stew (a recipe)

As some of you are aware 2009 was probably one of the worst years of my life, deaths, foreclosures, and bankruptcy to say just some of the trials I faced and today two weeks shy of Christmas the car that we so desparatedly depend on blew it's transmission...so if this write sounds bitter...so be it!

Poem Artwork

life’s anemic stew (a recipe)

add a dash of youth’s long lost sweet promises

maybe a smidgen of dreams that didn’t come true

two heaping teaspoons of bitter irony

one haunting holy ghost or maybe two

a river of teardrops dripped in life's stock pot

then let simmer idly with  a dash of  all lost hope

throw in the wolves at the back door laughing

and perhaps a length of strong old hangman’s rope

toss in taxes and boil until only the cold remains

a government's bitter cold like an early winter frost

then just lay my bones down to cool in green pastures

because this recipe is one for which I’ve dearly paid the cost…

Enjoy the kids--that's all we seem to really "accomplish" in this life, despite all our effort. Take care of yourself and I send hopes for a far, far better new year for you and yours!

Fee,
I'm sorry you've been through so much this year. Here's to hoping 2010 is better. I'm pretty sure it won't be for me, but there's always hope. You deserve to relax and enjoy your grandbabies! For me, this poem is easy to relate to. I found myself changing a few words to describe my own path. Great write. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Fee, I know it sounds so trite to say I'm sorry...but I am. I know it's difficult....I've been there....not in the same circumstances as yours, but different ones....and I think we all have at some point or other in our lives. Yes, when I rains, it sometimes seems to pour...but I have found that outlook and pushing ahead without giving up or giving in....make ALL the difference. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Never was more right to say that "life's a bitch!" Sorry about your predicaments, and sorry also for coming with a cliché, "when man hits bottom the only way left is up" maybe the Big Guy in the Sky give you a break, I will tell Him to do it pronto!!!

I am so sorry life keeps slipping in ingrediants we did not call for.
I will want to hear of better things for you- you are most deserving.
It hasn't dulled your talent.

2009 hasn't been a very good year for me either, Fee, but compared to what you've gone through, it's just a drop in the bucket. I sorry; you are in my prayers!

Dear Fee,
It's been said, "Troubles are oft times the tools by which God fashions us for better things." I hope 2010 is a much, much better year for you. You've had your share and then some and I'm sorry.
Hugs,
Marcia

Felt as deep as the turnip and rutabaga roots, Felix...spring is a new season to plant new roots...it's sad what you write here in life's anemic stew...and how ironic that you, Santa, go out to the mall to put a smile on those kids' face...Santa and the Salvation Army kettle not too far off in kinship these days...I know things will get better for you...starting over again in the spring shedding the Santa suit and donning the green man's Wizard haberdashery, a dash of this, a dash of that for the stewpot...

Love & Kinship,
Sage
