First of all sorry for the length of this but sometimes it is unavoidable.

As an outside observer, a lover of history and a Canadian I watch and listen with horror to the rumbling going on across this world. I mean no disrepect to anyone in particular but this is just one of my nightmares I chose to share...

The Second Civil War

There's no one left to remember much

Of that war fought so long ago

When folks said it just won’t happen,

But how were they to know…?

For it was brother against brother

Sometimes father against son

They listened to the cannon roar

Afterwards both sides claimed they won

While sisters wrapped bloody wounds

And Mother’s buried their young dead

An Armageddon of death and destruction

That turned the streams and rivers red

Soldiers force-fed on fear and anger

a desert of politics’ infested bigotry

Genocide seemed the only answer

and God was on both sides you see

That was then and this is now you say

We are high tech and civilized

Smile at the camera in Afghanistan

For that old camera never lies

As we watch a new monster arising

This time the lines are just as blurred

But it’s not north, nor south, no sir

Those old wounds are almost slowly cured

No, now it’s the house of egoed power

Against the upstage working class

one side spews forth moral rhetoric

But it really says go kiss my ass

I hear the rumbles growing louder

We the meek refuse to roll over and die

Our young and old are getting hungry

and veterans stop and wonder why

The voice of poets speak but no one listens

Warn of anarchy a mere breath away

The law of the gun seems ever closer

Than it did only just the other day

While the border lines of war are drawn

Like that other war waged so long ago

The one so many said could never happen

But how were they to know?

We have to look no further than our own hearts, our own homes, to know how quickly division can arise, Felix. It is alarming how quickly anger can rear it's head, even within close and tight communities, and then the fuse is lit. I shudder to think back to what I have experienced, even in a tiny way, among family, friends and small village communities. All it takes is an issue, a spark, strong but divergent beliefs held on either side... and BINGO. All hell lets loose. Things quickly escalate and get out of control. Only the bystander scratches his head and asks why - we are all the conscientious objectors when it's not "our" issue at stake. History starts with me, with my own heart, and I know that I can, depending on the catalyst, be both bystander and the one deeply involved. I wish it were not so. I wish we could all just take the objective view on all things. Then, maybe, the John and Yoko lyric might all come true and we could seriously "Give Peace A Chance". Grace takes the higher road, but Grace and Politics never go hand in hand, unfortunately. Peace will only come when we not only lay down our swords but banish them completely. Money is the most powerful sword and I can't see that disappearing overnight!!! Perhaps poverty is a path to peace... then we might learn to get our priorities right. Sorry, great piece of writing here that commands more than a little response. Of course I agree with every word! Totally and absolutely!! :)) xx

Yes it could happen and it amazes me that as a race we allow for our own destruction because that is the only ending World War 3 could have. Perhaps in a way we do not understand this experience that is coming is planned as a new way to change the energies around us? Who said being human was necessary?

We've been mired in this since we humans first walked this planet, and I sadly doubt we're even smart enough to ever change.

We should ask ourselves who benefits from any war before firing the first shot. If we do that, I don't think it will be any, cos the wealthy are allergic to sweat an effort.

Out of ignorance, history does repeat itself. Yes, the battle lines have been defined and deep trenches permeat the air. A government run amok filled with delusions of grandeur to steal from one to give to another as the drum beat grows louder, and louder, and louder....

Be always safe,
Karen

As is said, If we don't learn from past mistakes, we are prone to repeat them...

Anything is possible, who knows for sure...you are one of the poets telling the world of this possible fate, so worry if you will, though it likely won't help, but it sure as hell, as well, won't hurt...Ed

Been shouting this for some time now as have other voices in America but still 40% can't see the forest for the trees. When the dollar collapses then it will hit the fan and only the rich will survive.

Absolute truth, every single word,Fee....we have not grown as human beings....and in a world where greed reigns....how can we ever hope for peace? Well penned, my friend...a sombre reminder of our brutal history repeating itself once again....

Hugs,
Anna
