Counting Stars and Hearing Whispers

 

Last night…

I tried counting all the stars in the heavens

In a sky frosted a shade of cool cobalt blue

Didn’t get far, I forgot why I was counting

because my thoughts kept returning to you

 

Wondered where in the world you could be

Worried if perhaps you had forgotten me too

Wiped a teardrop from eyes tired of searching

The heavens for some sign or message from you

 

So I went to bed holding tight to our memory

In a dream felt a kiss that whispered on cue

The reassurance my lonely heart was seeking

For I knew only too well, the whisper, was true !
