Yes I did come from a place called Tufts Cove...

Poem Artwork

Where I Was

Yesterday I walked overgrown paths
That took me back, far back in time
Down by the rusted railway tracks
Where freight trains used to whine

There’s the house where I grew up
The very place where I came to be
Look...there's the school I went to
and the church that Christened me

The corner store where I bought candy
A little league field where I played ball
The neighbour’s garage I fell off of
Oh so many stories I could tell you all

Yes, I strolled around my childhood
Looking back where I was back then
There's no going back in time I know
This is now and that was then….

This is the kind of poem that makes the reader want to slip into his/her own past for a spell. Nicely done, Fee.

I KNOW the place itself brings back memories...my old home town has changed SO much it is hardly recognizable to the place I grew up in...but I still feel better being there, as I am sure you did in good old Tufts Cove...e
