The Trouble I Went Through

The mountain stronghold blew

with an awful sound; the C5 had worked a treat

time to take my leave and be quick on my feet.

Sirens sounded as bullets whispered ‘death’ past my ear.

Clipping on my ski’s to make good my escape

I whispered back ‘up yours shitehawk! You I do not fear.’

That was of course

until I saw the avalanche coming my way

ever had that feeling? It’s just not your day.

So I skied like a man possessed as a shot rang out,

the bullet missed my vitals but added another hole

to my vest, surely, thought I…I’m blessed.

I still had to outrun the chasing Christmas dust

and was running out of mountain fast…

time for a stroke of genius, a leap of faith,

thinking on your feet in this job is a must.

So into the abyss leapt I, shedding ski’s in a free fall fly

pulled the rip-cord of the sack on my back.

A great whooshing! Was followed by a pleasant crack!

and hey-presto! The man in black sailed to earth

upon a silken canvas of red white and blue.

And he did it just for you.

Why all this trouble you may ask?

What was it all for at the end of the day?

The answer?

All because the lady loves Milk Tray!

Confectionary to melt the heart they say

hmm…Confusing lights upon asphalt rivers

and dodging the maniac in the Mazda,

on reflection...it really would have been

much less hassle just to go to Asda*.

Lol! As a lover of both sweets and anything "spy" related--Bond and even Mr. Bean, this was a real treat, Paul. One that doesn't end up on the hips. Kate is sweet inspiration, isn't she? Thanks for sharing the fun...

Sounds like it came from Indiana Jones.
All kidding aside, it was a well written poem.
God Bless,

Well, well, Mr Bond!! With vitals still intact you surely ARE blessed but shame to have spilled so much Martini in the process. A man bearing gifts is bound to get the girls all stirred and shaken - hence the grrrrrrr-look in one of the photos you sent: pleasure, not pain, I assure you! :)) Thank you, Dwarling... my thighs have grown 6 inches in width this week and I'm STILL only on the top layer... I seriously think you were mega-macho not to have given in to that cop when he pulled a gun to you head, demanding those chocs. Hanging on to them was over and above the call of duty and more than noblesse oblige. Not sure that Azda-Ching-Ching WOULD have been less hassle, actually... if Tesco is anything to go by... give me Jaws anyday... and oops... there goes another bit of back tooth on a caramel! Thanks for a Diamond evening Paul - Forever! And to Q-T Bourkes, too... has she finished the new Bondmobile yet?! LOL Khocks-R-Us Kate xx

Interesting and amusing with just a touch of sweetness with the bringing out the heavy guns of chocolate towards the end. Well done.

007 or Agent Williams...this is a thrillung ride and, although I don't ski, I felt the snow fly up to my face and the onset of frostbite. You put me right there on those skis and that's the safest place for me to be...in another's poem.... skiing.
