I wrote this little verse some time back, it is mostly for children, but I thought it would perhaps jog some memories for your pleasure

Poem Artwork

O R G A N     G R I N D E R

Good ole Ogran Grinding man
He plays his organ wherever he can

The monkey dances with such glee
As the coins hit the concrete, you see

Throw a little dime now and then
A quarter much better if you can

Money, Money, Money going everwhere
The sound of it is good to hear

It will never let you down
Oh! How it goes round and round

It will soon be Christmas Day
Don' forget the babe in the Hay

Thank you for your Excellent Memoir, Marguerite! it triggered one in me, too!

I wrote a story called GRANDMA'S HANDS.....it's a true story, as well. There was an Organ Grinder present, for me to see as a child, as I went on a huge adventure with my Grandma Hattie!

So sad, how we've lost so many wonderful experiences for the children
in our nation....I try to re-create as many as possible for my grands;
though I still haven't found a monkey in a red cap, with a tin cup in his hand! LOL

Hmmm...maybe I'll dig that one out..
Bless you, Marguerite!
Love, Rhonda

Sweet poem with a simple but kindly message at the end. I have never seen a live organ grinder only pictures but always wanted to since a child. Thanks for giving me a new view of one.

Marguerite, you managed to jog my memories to the good old days when pleasures were so simple and intense. Alas today our children are more interested in TV and computers than the simple thiings in life. Thanks for sharing.

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
