Some of us all our lives tried to forget what we wouldn't like to remember, then a word, a picture, a sound, takes us back to where no had a far enough corner where to hide.

Poem Artwork

Inpired for and dedicated to the author in AD of the poem "Of Trains and Shattered Dreams" by Marcia Miller-Twiford

Daddy hit Mommy
and made her to cry,
she had a bloody nose
and it gave me fright
cos’ in church they said
we shouldn’t give God
a reason to be angry and
to punish to come down,
if He does, well…Dad
wouldn’t be sitting cos’
lots of pain on his behind.

Georg,
This brings tears to my eyes, as you know I also write for the abused, adults or children. It hurts all the same. God bless you Georg. Keep writing.

Blessings,
~Linda

I have always beklived that a man who beats a woman is a coward, they would turn on a woman or a helpless child but never a man because they know what would happen. I know all about abuse in the home and it is a haunting that never leaves you. The fears and scars that are left on the innocent ones is horrific. Thank you Georg.

You do Marcia justice with this heartrendering piece Georg. Sometimes mom's and dad's are not all they are meant to be and the pain does linger on, doesn't it. Things a young child are supposed to be protected from and so it goes.....

Be always safe,
Karen

An excellant write with a strong message. We have seen much in our lifetimes my friend and you are right all too often we supressed memories out of fear or just uncertainty. I am so glad that as this world advances more and more people speak out and speak up about abuse in all it's ugly forms.

Oh George, I am truly honored by the dedication and to know that my poem inspired you is a potpourri of feelings. I'm sorry if I brought the past forward again and made you relive pain of your childhood buy happy that you were able to express your experience so well. We all have memories that we'd like to keep buried but then something happens and up they pop. I wish for you sunny mornings, balmy afternoons, and peaceful nights. I'm glad our paths crossed. May your pen never run dry.
Blessings,
Marcia

How heartbreaking, Georg. So many women tolerate abuse from their spouses, often so blindsided by their own fears of not wanting to raise children, alone, etc. I've said it a million times before and I'll make it a million and one: Abuse is NOT love and no woman (or man, since sometimes women can be abusers, too) should stand for it.

Take care and it is my prayer than anyone who may be in such a situation, as you've described so vividly, reads your poem and realizes that change is needed.

Thanks,
Jill

Heartbreaking write, Georg; to me, a man who beats a woman is lower than a snake, in my eyes; he ceases to exist! Powerful pen; bravo!
