Second part of the dream described in the poem "When Love Goes Away" when love is not enough, when the small town moth is attracted to the big city lights...

Poem Artwork

Part II of "When Love Goes Away"

The small town kept getting smaller
walls closing over a city prison like
a small suitcase with few belongings
the empty train station, no goodbyes,
out to the big city and I knew then
that you wouldn’t come back.

Cheap lipstick to make you pretty to
catch a big break with a big smile
but you were one more among so many
chasing the Fortune everybody wants,
some with more expensive lipstick
others doing for it that “extra mile”

Months got to pile over into years
forget you? no I couldn’t do that
you was my sweetheart next door
and waiting seems to give a chance
to all of those next trains arriving
with the little suitcase and a smile!

The paper said in a little foot note…
a dirty alley, one overdose, the last,
then I knew, you wouldn’t come back.

I've been away. Read part 1 before part 2.
Hate nightmares. Hate the cold.
Terrible when your nightmares are in the light of day.
Gave me goosebumps.

Finding or escaping happiness an old tale that never ends, many are left tattered and broken in pieces, but we don't control fate, we only think we do, if you have a loving heart, as you do, your fate is to suffer such......Blessings friend! Jasmin Horst

The instant response is to ask, "Why do they do this?" But I know why they do it. Here and now stifles their dreams. Somewhere else, bright lights, big city, calls with a naive promise of fame and fortune. A few kisses and hugs, some lipstick and a packed suitcase, and they are on their way to a destiny which will eat them alive. The bright lights and big city of dreams hides an underworld of lushes and druggies who dream their impossible dreams in the gutters among similar losers. And an overdose is a fast high ...
