To Brent... Nearly Destroyed by Day's Wrath, I am Easily Lulled, Lured By Dusk's Narcotic— Perfectly Willing To Give Myself Up to the Dark. I am gradually Consumed by It. I am gradually Filled with It. My Senses Dull. Barely Discernible, Sprawled Under the White Sheets that Cling— To Protect or to Suffocate? I can't Decide. My Thoughts are No Longer Lucid. I have Nothing Left to Lose Except Myself— Something I Willingy Relinquish: My Last Gift. Vulnerable, I Submit Completely, Gratefully To the Darkness. In Exchange, The Darkness Gives Me What I Want Most: Tranquil Sleep. No One can hurt Me Now, Nor can I Cause Pain. I Relish My New Freedom— A Limp, Anonymous Figure Between the Sheets.
