Behind veiled faces mystery lurks
Which once revealed intensely hurts
Invited to the masters table
To sup and dine as you are able
But quietly avoiding chatter
Looking down at his fine platter
Hide the secret deep within
Subservient to his every whim
Your face impassive, flat affect
Opinions never voiced and yet
Inside the ritual social norm
A lively idea may be born
But there it ends on face of stone
Within a veiled face that’s scorned

This reading gave me a jolt with its stark truth. It reminded me of the New Testament scriptures where the scribes likened people to rocks. CS Lewis's book, "Till We All Have Faces" seems to speak also to the same issues as your poem.
This is so outstanding! I love it, the writing is excellent not to mention such a dire point to be made again and again. Let's pray that they listen to you my friend. Things are changing.

Love to you always! Janet xoxoxoxo
