Though Love dies, it's not always so simple to forget someone who has entered your heart and soul.

Poem Artwork

There is a bond in some dark, secret part of me,
That's part of you, a canker in your soul as well.
From our first glance, first touch on secret places known to me
Your dark, my dark, confused and mingled dwelt.
I cannot let you go, though daily try
To free this heart, this body of your need,
Though still remembering how bitterly my cry
Of longing to you went without a heed.

Your heart of ice, your face at times like stone,
Was like a ball of darkness in my spleen.
Yet when our bodies met, in this alone,
I knew that from the flesh we'd never wean.

Your soul's not mine, you cannot understand
What moves my mind, what feelings rack my heart.
We share but one great love, move hand in hand,
Upon a journey for God's Truth and Art.

In you I found a God and worshipped deep
But with a sorrow and a bitter pain
Paid for the commandment that I did not keep
And yearned to know my freedom once again.

In some strange way, it's true for me you're dead
So why do you keep living in my head?

Nothing has ever quite pushed it aside. Thanks for your comment, Ronald!

That last line says it all. There is a love-hate relationship still going on it can't be denied, and probably won't be denied until another love comes along and pushes aside those dark thoughts that linger.
