The challenges of aging; humor in truth!

Poem Artwork

Journal
Castabout

I used
to be
sharp.

I used
to be
right on

it!

But now
I'm slow
and oft

dull-
sensed.

If I
vary one
iota I
drift...

My focus
flexes and
fluctuates at
command.

A voice
a sound
an intrusive
thought and

I'm turned
around

Forgetful of
what I was
doing -
of what
I just
did!

I swim
in my
mind
casting
about
until I
find a
familiar
thread
to which
I can
cling -

The Life
Saver of
my 70's!

Hey Sis, I recently lost someone close to me. Was immersed in all that and grievcing, etc. God is in control. I have a letter written to you not stamped yet.
This little poem is right on. Day after day. God is in control.
I was down flat even to getting dialysis. He brought me through.....more time for you, Con. No worry. He doesn't let go.

Love you!

I can relate to this one especially as I see my 70th year approaching. I like to think though that we are forgetful or muddled at times as we age it is because we have amassed so much knowledge and information over our lifetimes that it takes a little extra time to find what we are looking for. Well done Rhonda...

Let us hope that you can still find those anchors to steady and reposition you when you are in your 80s. I am embarking there and so far, while being distracted much by unnecessary evils, I find that I still have a relatively firm grip on my thoughts. But I am slowing down and drifting off once in a while after a period of intense writing or reading.
