Only Puppets Dance in Silent Symphonies

by Richard Lloyd Cederberg — Read all 280 poems by Richard Lloyd Cederberg

Psalm 147: “He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast? He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.”

Poem Artwork
With burning eyes
You probe deeply
into the souls of all men,
You search attentively
where ignorance and lust roam
along shores of slothful gullibility
Your light illuminates and guides
with foresight
offering the means
to embrace invisible life
wisely
with prudence
aforethought, as soft arias whisper
of infinite paths in eternity yet future….
.
Too many fornicate
on salt rotted bridges
ingenuously burdened
with ideological egoism
phantom tongues
pontificate ageless myths
to those eager to ingest the
tactless psychosomatic drooling
of charitable benefactors,
those who sway loosely
as silken strings
trading one life for another
enticing
daily
as the black widow weaves
a far-reaching web of megalomania
in her quest to render Truth benign….
.
In dense forests of imagination
minds conjure relevance and beauty
hoping to find wisdom concealed
in word puzzles revealed while
Your nature seeks those lost
heretofore revealing strongholds of prideful recklessness
You give eyes to see beyond these debilitating impieties
that have plagued the souls of those fallen
through the ages….
.
And where there once was only lead
between small colorful glass panes
You saw argentiferous possibilities
laced with silver and gold
You called
to woo me
accordingly
in lucent terms
to your Holy feet,
in mercy I saw my folly in your light
flooding through open doorways
I stumbled
dropping all that I had
I imagined failure but
You reached out to steady me
breathing in my spirit that
never will you leave me nor forsake me….
.
And in these ripples of melodious discourse
between my spirit and yours
where truth and love supplant the fears
and Light displaces all dark riddles
I heard your honeyed voice assuring me that
You have plans for your creation and that
only puppets dance in silent symphonies….

I THINK THIS IS WHAT I'VE ALWAYS 'TOTALLY LOVED' ABOUT 'HIM'...HE GIVES US A 'CHOICE'. WE DIDN'T TURN TO HIM BECAUSE WE HAD TO! AND GOD KNOWS IT WOULD BE TOO EASY TO TURN AROUND...INDEED THE WORLD WOULD WELCOME US WITH OPEN ARMS! BUT WE FOLLOW AFTER HIM BECAUSE WE WANT TO! HALLELUJAH HE HAS GIVEN US THAT 'CHOICE'...WE ARE NOT PUPPETS! HOW MASTERFUL, RICHARD! SO ENJOYED FROM BEGINNING TO END, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS KEEPER. Observation of the evil that is excessive throughout the world we live in, and, respectively, a cauldron of hatred for that evil observed. A humbling to God - and, too, a deposition of circumstances and troubles that were lifted resulting from a purposed encounter brought on by the Spirit. It was a major turning point in your life that you express here, and so well did you.

Richard,
Another fantastic piece from a gifted author. Those last two lines are so mysterious, much like life. What are those plans? Which path will be taken? Love the contrast between yourself, others, and the all-good character (God?). It shows that even good folks have room for improvement. Gets me thinking. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

I no longer yearn for the words to express myself for all I have to do is read something like this of yours and I feel complete soul bud.
I love the last line of this extraordinary poem, "Only puppets dance in silent symphonies" You are a true genius and Michele's photography is always awesome. What a pair you make.
Hugs to you both,

Your words bring beauty and comfort to those who can't, or won't, go there on their own. Your writing makes the word, "awesome," inadequate. Your friends, below, have spoken truths you deserve. I can only add my respect for one who loves all there is to be loved. Proud to be your friend, - Bill

Richard,
This is so powerful the journey of the lost /v- those blessed by the Creator that love and obey and rejoice in knowledge. The lost are like puppets obey the law and of wages of sin and death. I may have gotten off your subject flow. Excellent message.

If man weren't invented who would appreciate creation? and paradoxically destroy it.
Another tremendous poem.
It is in our minds we find the most and the best.
Trying to deny God would be like a sun ray dissing the sun...

perhaps Richard, man was created so the source of all imagination has a vehicle to observe itself ... the great riddle is collectively, we are the source which we seek ... our journey is to return to the origin from which we began and our retribution or relevance is to acknowledge the light burning brightly within us all is the substance of creation's momentum ...

your poem is a testament of inspired investigation ...

"...never will you leave me nor forsake me..." you said like Tagore the poet asking to be loved or be killed, never forsaked.
Your definition about tactless psychosomatic drooling as the sound of an impecable insult done by an upper-class gentleman from the Tories corridors of London.
You don't write like a poet, you do it like a composer.

-Brilliant and compelling piece Sir Richard Isn't it fabulous to have ears which are capable of hearing when He calls to woo you and to know that He "reached out to steady me
Breathing in my spirit that
Never will you leave me nor forsake me?"
I feel my spirit uplifted at reading these prayerful and wise words of assurance. The final three lines gird me with all the knowledge I need to face each new day:
"I heard your honeyed voice assuring me that
You have plans for your creation and that
Only puppets dance in silent symphonies"
Bravo!
