A Tanka/Story-Poem hybrid with parenthetical Triolets. Forgiveness.

Poem Artwork
(On softened hues of gloaming
With hopefulness they flew
Their wounded hearts a-roaming
On softened hues of gloaming
And near a lakeshore combing
They spied a thing so new
On softened hues of gloaming
With hopefulness they flew)

Seemed little could stop
The forces compelling them
To understand why
The yielding of their choices
Had produced desperation

So they roamed awhile,
Across a barren landscape,
To understand why
His actions removed the gem
Of hope’s essence from their souls

And HER heart cried out to him …

Know you embraced me
With headiness of aether,
You let me see love
Flying on the wings of Hawks,
In a world of afflictions,

But you betrayed me,
With underhanded slickness,
And I was weakened
When you entered her domain
For flagrant luxurias

And HIS heart cried out to her …

Forgive my folly,
For it is my undoing,
This thing that grips me
In talons of fruitlessness
And all dark insanities,

Oh to find you there
In the sweet swirling shadows
Of pine trees rustling,
Reaching out to embrace me,
Willing to offer your hand,

Willing to absolve
All I afflicted you with,
(In the name of love)
Adopting the best of me
Instead of what was lessened

And HER heart cried out to him …

I offered you more
Than all that went before, but
Your assuasive words
Were darkened and illusive,
And your actions denounced me,

How should I feel then-
With trust flagrantly cast off
For the baser needs -
When what defined us withered
In moments of brazenness,

Still, I am in love,
Despite the taints upon us.
With hearts open arms
I purpose to FORGIVE YOU
So we may fly together

Once again as one…

(On softened hues of gloaming
In loves embrace they flew
Their wounded hearts a-roaming
On softened hues of gloaming
And near a lakeshore combing
They found forgiveness true
On softened hues of gloaming
In loves embrace they flew)

AS LONG AS EROS LOVE IS STILL ALIVE IN ONE HEART...FOR ANOTHER, FORGIVENESS IS INEVITABLE. WHAT IS SAD IS WHEN...IT IS NOT. BEAUTIFUL WORK, ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I surely hope it was truly that simple, Sweder.

Romance and its ups and downs. If there's true forgiveness, then the relationship may grow stronger. This piece feels Shakespearean - the depth of their feelings, the medium in which they express them, and (in a way) the ironic ending, for not every relationship is so lucky. Beautifully penned, my friend.

Uniquely exquisite... "forgiveness..." flows and glows showing its majestic brilliance on constellation Sublimity.

I read this beautiful work, dear Richard, as a somewhat whimsical piece with undertones of heartfelt gravity. I may feel it wrongly, but it does feel soulfully deep and yet also light and musical to moi.
Blessings,
Christine

Stunning write Richard! Absolutely. We can always change the end of the story if we choose to forgive...I especially liked these lines :Still, I am in love,
Despite the taints upon us.
With hearts open arms
I purpose to FORGIVE YOU
So we may fly together

Once again as one…

Once again, your flair for uniqueness and stretching your ability shows through. While some things should not be forgiven, indiscretions between lovers should always be so… as you so eloquently have shown.

There are, among the vicissitudes and variegated verses herein, tonal shifts and rhythmic resonances reminiscent of Byron's "So We'll go No More a Roving" ... not only the cadences but also the diction... and there is much more to it than just that word "a-roaming" that you use in your final line... this is a saga worthy of a kenning or two, my friend, worthy of a camp-fire legend, worthy of a magus and a seer... enjoyable on many levels, far more than most a tha stuff a veneer...

You've penned a story often told in variations of commitment, betrayal (of which there are far more than the obvious)and the willingness to attempt a re-connection. Such keeps one of positive mind in spite of the results. I wish the narrator well.
