An aging man still searching...

A simple character depiction inspired by a gifted writer and friend's honesty. “The one who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been.” Albert Einstein

With earnest hope
He penned an ode
To those who lost
The mother-lode
In search of trifles
Seldom sought
An honest man
Left doubting
Along the path
A young lad grew
In knowledge shared
His mind construe d
All simple sorrows
Left undone
He turned away
Too often
His life a lark
Of give and take
His mislaid dreams
A sad mistake
He offered none
The hand of fate
Or earnest plans
Worth yearning
Still he sought
New dreams inside
As people sneered
And often lied
Assuming he would
Quit the race
It left the
Young man sighing
With shadowed doubt
He sought that thing
To keep his mind
From evils sting
He reached within
And prayed for aid
To keep his heart
From sinking
No crueler fate
Beset the man
Than giving all
To understand
How often life
Can steal away
Those pleasing
Songs worth singing
With solemn heart
He penned an ode
To those who lost
The mother-lode
In search of treasures
Sought by few
An aging man
Still searching........

powerful read
it has lots to ponder!
Well done, Richard!
may the search ever light your path...
A man can remain young throughout his life by being true to himself and using his own subconscious to make time stand still.
Do not neglect the search, that is what life is all about.
So mote it be.

You have beset the man of solemn heart.
Well written and enjoyable to read twice more.

It’s a shame I could not afford a headstone big enough, this could easily be my epitaph.
Any chance of doing something similar in the fifty quid department.
