A blanket of white...

by Richard Lloyd Cederberg — Read all 280 poems by Richard Lloyd Cederberg

For those whose faithful pursuit of the intangible remains steadfast… Poetic-prose.

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Poem Artwork
we ebb and flow to
invisible forces around us,
while deep within us storm-clouds
descend and snow arrives on a whisper;
a blanket of white
changing our keenness,
while fortifying our faith, our
sharpness of vision, our
hopefulness for
living now
and in the future…
With every breath I
pray for whiteness to arrive
on the wings of love and honor,
and for Truth to flow as a purging
river through the burgeoning hordes
of darkened souls
incarcerated by insanity’s
delusions, and the razor-edged
chains of never-ending exploitation…
.
Such are the enigmatic
histories of ancient civilizations;
wildflowers appearing briefly
upon the scrolls of time;
the Anasazi,
the Mayan,
the Aztec,
the Mixtec,
the Zapotec,
the Rognvald’s
traversing great oceans,
living in valleys, or deep within
alcoves carved into varnished cliffs,
on high mountainous ridges, or
unforgiving deserts –
mystifying and baffling all
those who investigate – ancient cultures
enshrouded in underground caverns, along rivers,
prospering, vanishing, but always leaving behind unique
legacies of art, music, and words, to ascertain and learn from.
Sadly, these cultures, in all their nobleness and mystery,
are gone and now only guidelines for exploitation
to a pandemic of self-centered, pandering,
skeptical, greed-mongers who use them
as a means to further personal
agenda and cause profit
.
Notwithstanding our
dreams and outlooks; or our
unfailing tendency to misread the
signs along the paths we walk; presuming
we have discernment in the first place, and
that our singularity of spiritual vision elevates
us beyond the evolving tunnel-vision of
so many around us;
all things
remain firmly in the
hands of a loving Creator
whose ways are not our ways,
and whose thoughts are far beyond
our power to comprehend.
.
Still… we are
ALL framed by freewill
and personal choices, and,
where we choose to plant our seeds
will always demarcate the harvest
gleaned from our choices.
.
So each of us press on . . .
.
And life continues to
ebb and flow to invisible
forces, while deep within us
storm clouds quietly descend and
snow arrives on a soft whisper;
A BLANKET OF WHITE
encouraging our feelings of understanding
and the perceptions of those around us

The nice thing about wild flowers is that they can appear anywhere at anytime. Framed on the background of this beautiful earth we would be wise to keep in pursuit of the intangible. In this transient world there is great beauty to be found. If we but place our beauteous eyes to the petal of God's creation, we'd be able to nurse at it's font. Beautiful verse Richard, as always, a pleasure to read xo

Well perceived and well written to describe human soul and how we overshoot our landing when it comes to our respect and pooling of good grace. This thing that we are can certainly be quite the motor on gasses - physical.

Rather than the fog of time's passage you have chosen a blanket of white, symbolizing the dead of winter when all is still after the burst of growth is done.

Those civilizations you write about can tell us a lot about ourselves if we let them. Unfortunately most don't look at them the way that you and I do, and often cherry pick the very best for their purposes.

To hold love deep within and maintain a belief that our illusions are not who we are is our greatest challenge. Appreciation for your inspiring thoughts ~*~

You amaze and astound, Richard, but mostly you cause us to dig deep down within ourselves and search for truth. For truth has a nasty habit of finding dark places to hide, your words help us to ferret them out. Thank you.

This is a beautiful rendering of how time, and Nature, and circumstance have left their indelible marks on the human condition, and how humans have left their stains of ingratitude in return. Still, there is always the optimism that we might see the errors in our ways and the soft white blanket of hope might cleanse us of our misguided ventures and we can find our way to discernment and truth. Poetry at its best.

How fortunate for some of us with access to your work, and how unfortunate others removed from the light of this rich wisdom. You've painted a thorough and multilayered perception of what is, what's believed and what is hope for its continued presence. Many thanks for a treatise of so much of what matters.
