Orbs in the woods...

I was in the woods one night taking-the-air when something peculiar happened…

Poem Artwork
My god
I thought
What was that sound
That whooshed above my head
That lit up all the ground around
And left me whelmed in dread
.
Wide-eyed
I gazed
Up towards the lights
That raced past on ahead,
It left me quiv’ring here in fright
And left my heart a ’shred
.
Then next
My past
Washed over me
And every trial I’d known
Of every challenge that I’d faced
In this I was alone
.
I froze
Unsure
Because of it
Intent to form a scheme
I purposed to renounce the thought
That this was just a dream
.
Despite
My dread
I must resolve
These fears inside of me
No matter what I thought I knew
I must press on and see
.
With stealth
I crept
On towards the Orbs
Now hov’ring near the ground
Just several yards in front of me
I mustn’t make a sound
.
It seemed
They were
Entreating me
But why I had no clue
Despite the rationale I had
I wondered…… am I screwed
.
Wide-eyed
I thought
What would I do
If I were beamed aboard
Would I retain my memories
Or just be probed and stored
.
But then
I thought
Not all is bad
Despite what we’ve been told
There are some LIGHTS most genuine
A wonder to behold
.
I felt
Some hope
And stalwartness
Step-up despite my dread
Infused now with temerity
I pushed myself ahead
.
It seemed
They’d heard
The thoughts I had
And saw me creeping near
Because a glowing radiance
In front of me appeared
.
This race
Of LIGHTS
That came that night
Had chosen me to see
That all the knowledge we possess
Just pales to what will be
.
My god
I thought
If this is true
Then all that man has owned
Is just a fleeting partial glimpse
Of all that will be known…

I certainly believe the possibility of other beings and that the only fear we would have of them is because of their newness - nothing else really unless they are obviously dangerous. I would love to see us in a greater and truly peaceful and joyful existence - not merely lost.

One doesn't need a close encounter to have the wisdom offered in those last two stanzas. But it was a nice device to show your writing and thought provoking ideas. Kudos.

Very interesting, very mysterious and intriguing narrative of what might be. John

The poem has a great beat that pushes you forward. It has you waiting to see what the orbs could possibly be. I was expecting ET. But I like your ending better.

There are mysteries in the great beyond at outstretch further then our mere interpretation. Well written Richard, and a delight to delve into these possibilities. Thank you for sharing x
