Where the Poet Seer See’s (Nature)

by Richard Lloyd Cederberg — Read all 280 poems by Richard Lloyd Cederberg

Imagery woven with a substantive message that can be interpreted subjectively.

Poem Artwork
Within nature’s vast reflection
Discerning eyes find [too much of]
modern civilization morally crippled:
Humanity becoming as
fruitless trees,
spiritually devolved,
corrupt-artists pandering,
wickedness as head-less drums,
reed-less wind instruments (players blowing air)
string-less guitars (players strumming air)
melodies deprived of strength or beauty,
the masses given to idols and intrigues,
skewed shafts of light
lingering in
half-cocked doors
waiting for those other
more weighty personalities
to open up trending portals, so
ambition may rise spirited and coruscating
in the day-to-day brawl to be noteworthy.
All this so the urgently self-centered
can call into question,
or look down upon rivalry
as damaging to personal endeavor….
.
BREATHE LISTEN
In tuneful conception,
Wisdom sings sweet melodies
on the winds of nature’s reflections…
.
It is here, the poet seer
sees humanities brief lives as
leaves swirling and dancing on a
soughing northern wind.
Original (ESSENCE)
at first
alive
visible
germane
concupiscent,
a time to reach for
all one’s dreams, but then,
as time passes, all settling into
some shadowed place, forgotten,
misplaced, only to be
picked up (at
some point in time)
by a budding new clerisy
as arcane curiosities of past
artistic or literary endowment. At
first eagerly sought-after and ingested,
how many end up crushed in irreverent fingers,
and disposed of as unfashionable, or worse, unneeded,
and swept under the carpets of creative indifference?

BREATHE LISTEN
In creation’s profoundness
a wise seeker finds ONE TRUTH
motioning for wholeness with holiness,
and in sweet strains hears the tender voice
of nature’s encouragement proclaiming: ‘Listen to
the still voice in the forming storm - there is far more
Wisdom available than you could ever imagine’…

You've created a journey into the darkest conundrums of civilization, reminding us all that without Nature as our mentor, we will more likely than not end up in the mulch of ignorance and fear. Sadly, our numbers are dwindling,i.e., those of us giving Nature its due respect. Very astute overview, Richard.

While civilization may be considered a parasite on nature, civilization was spawned by nature and therefore, is an extension of it. Early on in your poem, there is some mention of parts of civilization that are considered "immoral." I find that to be not something of nature, but of the human mind determining what is good and what is bad.

Nature is filled with both good and bad. Often, after much scientific study, it is determined what was thought was bad turns out to be good. In nature, survival of the fittest creates exquisite beauty and variety. Civilization has some of the same potential, but if cut short by ideological belief, diversity and inclusion cannot thrive, particularly when we engage in genocide and other activities to stamp out what we consider evil. For example, predators of all kinds during much of the 20th century. Now realizing that these predators are essential to the balance of nature.

Another example would be viruses. I read in National Geographic there are approximately 8000 viruses. Most of them very helpful and part of our genome. Viruses have always taken the role of being the predator for our top predator status… Killing the weak and diseased and making the survivors stronger. While we fight natural genetic improvement in favor of allowing those genetically weak to live on and reproduce. For example, myopia in my family.

The one thing I dislike most about environmental documentaries and books is when all they give is the doom and gloom of it all. I appreciate most those who show the way to do better, to be better, demonstrating that there is hope and all the ways people are changing for the good. You have done this with your poem, taking the reader into the sad reality of the plastic consumer culture and power-mongering, then show them the way. Breathe and listen, seeing within one's answers and hearing the still small voice, that one truth that disperses all the nonsense into nothingness. Great poem. Deep and profound.

Breathe listen and use your seer eyes my dear friend, its amazing how poetry can become alive underneath the tutelage of a well seasoned
mind and heart. Bet you do things today you didn't even dream of yesterday, lol, have a great one. I appreciate your heart, :)

WISDOM sings sweet melodies
on the winds of nature’s reflections…

Richard I can tell this is an inspired poem. So rich and beautiful.
On the winds of nature's reflections....that's where I feel closest to God. Thank you for writing this poem. Contrasting the world's corruption with the Creator's perfection

You describe very well the emptiness, corruption and inhumanity of today's world and its entire civilization. Then in your Breath . . . Listen section, you lay out a possible escape, returning to the wisdom of nature and what it can tell us about how we should live our lives. Excellent work.
