The more than one time Sale!

I was watching TV and another of those wonderful ads about a ‘one time only’ sale came on. I was feeling kind of whimsical and decided to have some fun. After all, who do think they are fooling? There have been so many ‘one time only’ sales that I have lost count. How can one lose count of something that only ever uses the number one? Do you see where I am going with this yet? Read the following poem. It is meant to make you chuckle but you may also find yourself wondering, too.

Poem Artwork

“Buy now,” they proclaim. “Save while supplies last.”
They tell you to come now for the products are going fast.

“This is a one time sale,” they loudly shout.
“At these wonderful prices we will soon be sold out.”

When we run to the store we find that the dozen or so items are sold.
However there are other items to purchase at great savings, we are told.

We went for that fantastic comfortable bed to sleep on.
But when we got there we found that alas they are gone.

However before we can walk out of the store
That has placed other items on sale that usually cost more.

“Buy it now,” they promise “and you will save and save a lot.”
I did not need a new phone with three hand pieces but that’s what I got.

Because I took advantage of this one time only sale I find that I have spent.
Now I am wondering where it is that my money has went.

Not to worry, though my friend if you missed yesterdays one time sale.
Tomorrow will bring another ‘one time’ sale. At least that is their tale.

It gives one a reason to pause and wonder on the one hand,
What part of one do they not understand?

For yesterdays sale was the only one while supplies last as they tell.
Today’s one time sale has more gadgets to sell.

Now do your math, my friend and you will agree
That one plus one equals two and one more will make three.

Yet they are intent on telling you that each one is the last.
Be careful for if you keep running for savings your money won’t last.

Hey, Lew, that's cute, but perhaps they meant that they actually only had one-of-a-kind products...which equates a one time only sale for each product. Still, gimmicks are meant to trap the innocent shopper eager to get a deal. Nice write!

God Bless
Lena
