Our Flag Waves

I would like to wish all a happy Fourth of July. May our nation be reborn. May it prosper and may it withstand even the faults and failures of we, the people.

Poem Artwork

Outside our schools, there waves a flag called ‘Old Glory.’

As it waves in the breeze it tells a wonderful story.

It tells a tale of a country born out of unrest.

A country whose people wanted to create the best

They fought for a land of the free and home of the brave.

For more than two-hundred years later that flag will still wave.

It’s red, white and blue has been drug through the dirt.

It has seen pain, glory; fought too many wars till hit hurt.

Today it still flies but we ask for how long.

Can we overcome apathy and keep singing the song?

Oh say, can you see by the dawns early light?

As old glory is once more raised up the flagpole to our delight?

Let us not falter but delight in the beauty of the flag, blowing in the wind.

Let us not give into selfish desires or let our courage come to an end.

Oh say, does that star spangled banner yet wave?

Are we like our forefathers willing to be brave?

On this Fourth of July, let us renew their passion so strong.

May we keep alive the love of our forefathers which has lasted this long.

I pray that America not forget that its founders were God-fearing men! "In God we trust" should not be just written words on coins and dollar bills, but it must be etched in the heart. Great write, Lew.

God Bless

Amen! A perfect piece of poetry, which holds the key: CELEBRATE WHAT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER HAS GIVEN US!

We lose that which we do not celebrate.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17

Great great write, Lew. God bless your Independence Day celebration!
