“What are you thinking?” she quietly asks of me.
I cannot tell her for it is as if I were lost at sea.
My mind is awash in a world of woe
It is drowning in anguish with nowhere to go
“What are you thinking?” she asks me again
My thoughts are overwhelming, I know not where to begin
The sea that I am lost in is the sea of thought so deep.
Thought that is deeper than the sea and as such too restless to sleep.
My mind is inundated with all kinds of possibilities
Thoughts pass this way and that as does a warm summer breeze.
But unfortunately this summer breeze does not bring cool relaxation
It holds no release, no positive retort that may bring exoneration
I cannot lift myself from these random thoughts I think.
They began when from the cup of knowledge I first took a drink.
“What are you thinking?” she asks of me once more.
I simply take a breath as I stare at the floor.
How can I tell her that I fear for mankind?
For man has become unfaithful, unloving and much too unkind.
Our own selfish desires have led us astray.
The same selfish lusts will be our downfall someday.
These selfish lusts have taught us that strong and selfish achieve
Truly they can but when wrongly teamed they do not. This I believe
So I simply let my mind swim in this sea of rage.
I pray that there will soon be found better knowledge in a new age
When men and women can live in a world of love and great peace.
I pray for a happy day when from earthly lusts we are released
“What are you thinking?” she asks with great persistence.
Her voice is soft but strong yet it seems to come from a distance
I draw myself in from the sea of anguish in which I swim
I bow my head and cry out to God for guidance from him
I take a deep breath from Gods Holy Spirit
And remind myself that his voice is peace, if only I hear it
I turn to my wife and say in a voice, soft and sincere
I am praying to my creator for I know he is near
I am drawing courage from him and trying to follow his guidance
“I am thinking of love and hope that has eternal existence.”
These are thoughts to be treasured, Lew. Love, peace, and blessings to you,
Regis
