One simply finds himself savoring the beauty of September, the summers end
The trees are slowly changing their attire as they gently sway in the wind
They will soon change their colors to a variety of reds, yellows and brown
And soon each leaf will reluctantly let go of the tree and float gently down
One by one they will add to create a colorful canopy that covers the ground
One that vibrantly changes its hues as the wind blows the leaves around
There are no fireworks like the storms seen on the fourth of July
There are no thunderbolts or lightning flashes illuminating the sky
Much of the September rain is a drizzle, leisurely continuing to drop
The gray sky may even become lighter as if to precipitate the rains stop
I watch as the sun shines through, an effort to burn the clouds away
I find myself wondering if the rains will end for now or will they stay
I am not surprised when the sun relents to the will of the clouds so gray
I watch the raindrops that adorn each leaf that still clings to the tree
A glorious show, one that should be admired by those such as you and me
