~~~~~ Mourning Dove moans Breaking silence of First light Eyes afraid to open In fear of losing Precious fragments Of dawn’s last dream Nestled naked amongst softest linens Comforted by ecru matelesse In that warmest hollow Edged by chilly border Bare toes dare not cross Golden hair tumbles over Eyelet edged mounds Elbow arching overhead Hand reaching to finialed post Smoothly carved grooves and polished Grasping then pushing it away Stretching in the undulating motion of Each vertebrae Leg crossing leg With toes en-pointe Smooth muscles tightening To curve of arched back Stretched now relaxed Mind wanders yet Not over daily toils Finding peace in the colors Of the sunrise As fingers twirl tresses Trace angled jaw and pouting lips Erase the stubborn sand of Last night’s slumber Wrist resting now in Nature’s curve Where waist falls gently from hip And softest skin Covers solidity of bone In the furrow there to smooth belly Eyes close For one last day dream Though it seems I am now Awake Warm Alive Renewed And wishing it were Sunday And raining… ~~~
