Thinking of the folks in Moore, Oklahoma

A takeoff from the classic, Stormy Weather

Poem Artwork

 Stormy

My life is stormy as far as I can see,
stormy life, please let me be.

Skies above are troubled,
since you went away.
Though I have seen better days,
these gray skies seem to stay.

Gray is my life now,
and dark are my days.
I seek the sun's solace,
but find only grays.

My life is stormy as far as I can see,
stormy life, please let me be.

It won't stop raining,
it's raining all the time.
And my tears, like the raindrops,
fall heavy on my mind.

There are rivers of weary,
dripping in my wine,
washing away my cheery,
when you were mine.

My life is stormy as far as I can see,
stormy life, please let me be.

The wind howls a mournful tune,
how can I escape this awful gloom,
you have cast upon me,
in this darkened room.

Closed in by four walls,
and dark of night.
I cry bitter tears.
Please show me the light.

My life is stormy as far as I can see,
stormy life, please let me be.

Please let me be.

Stormy.

My life is stormy as far as I can see,

stormy life, please let me be.

I love these lines, and the repetition to me envokes a rollicking feeling like a storm does. Well done, and captures so much emotion. Thank you for this.

As usual, another wonderfully phrased,
strong and memorable poem.
Picture of somebody in deep contemplation,
description of the wonder and power that
exist in a nature and deep images purposely
juxtaposed to...paint the picture...to express
feeling... where rain has made it's presence known.
Thank you Ronald.
With warm regards Isabella.

Man! I've got a tune for this already.........even went to the piano with this. The words are heart wrenching. What a song this could make!

Love ya!

Shades of Jim Morrison and the Doors, Riders On the Storm. The song is rumored to have been performed live only once, on The L.A. Woman tour at The Warehouse in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 12, 1970 some 35 years later, ironically, Katrina Hurricane hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005, leaving many stormy memories. Life is one big storm, and only those survive that find their way out of the Great Depression, another societal collapse of the people's dreams crumbled. Probably wasn't meant to be, but this poem Stormy is historical in its own stormy right, Ron.

70 years ago Lena Horne changed the course of film history for blacks with her rendition of Stormy Weather. Her sultry sensitive voice can be heard on YouTube. She still owns that song to this today. You didn't capture Lena's charm, but your words stirred me to find her and that voice once again. What a treat to listen to this fabulous lady! With Lena singing the Cab Calloway band never sounded better.

Very good, Ron. I liked the words a lot and I can see, or hear, Billie Holiday singing those lyrics. It is absolutely her kind of song. Ya did good, buddy . . .
