 The World Turns

The world turns,
the world yearns,
the world learns,
the world churns,
and the world burns.

The only thing certain,
is the land, sea and sky.

All is changing, rearranging,
as the world turns and we, certainly,
will have to say, "Bye-bye."

For immortality, that modality,
is only in the minds of men.
There is no sign, no dotted line,
that we will live again.

But the world turns,
and mankind yearns,
to take what he learns,
into the mix that he churns,
to be careful what he burns.

Helpless when we are born,
sucking the tit of life without scorn.

Some of us learn how to get off of it,
while some of us, on our asses sit.
Spend our lives in a hopeless pit,
square pegs in round holes that never fit.

But the world turns,
and the user yearns,
while he never learns,
and his mind churns,
many bridges he burns.

But some have minds of their own,
challenge the world before their grown.
Change the world every day,
allowing their minds to freely play.

Challenge the world the way it be,
change the world to be more open and free,
challenge the world to grow and learn,
challenge why it must sometimes churn.

And so the world turns,
while for freedom, the world yearns,
through endless study and work he learns,
cures for all that churns,
so that nothing ever burns,

Again.

A lovely piece of writing, Ronald! But don't be one of the sad ones, who have written off eternal life! There is Hope!

Powerful and deep. The earth doesn't care or acknowledge us, as we rape and pillage her.
No dotted line <----Brilliance. We do seem to be digging our own grave.

Never was good at geometry,
so I'll stick with poetry..
can't think standing up, so
I will sit to write..Can I
qualify? for a world turning?

Karma and weaning in the same poem does something for me. Kind of like a chant at the Burning Man festival. What goes around comes around in gallons no use crying over spilled milk...you're a wizard at rhymes, Hull nothing in your den is ever dull.

"sucking the tit of life without scorn"

"to be careful what he burns"

"Challenge the world the way it be," is a powerful line in this write. The doers will strive to do this while those who sit on their asses try to benefit from the doers efforts. Write on!

Love ya!

I like the way you spin off your theme, as the world turns, continually building your momentum. In my opinion we are all users of this planet and its resources, some are just more gracious about it than others. M.True

How often we try and fail to arrest some attention at our delicate plight. Here, you defied the odds. Well done.

...a poetic panoply with restorative energy and an angry young man's drive laced with optimism and a relentless rage against the machine ethos that suffuses each and every verse... a fine write you've wrought, my friend.

A gem of a write indeed!

I enjoyed the hope that is born from seemingly hopelessness.

There's lot of new research that shows the users and losers of whom you write are...the wealthy...who possess a lot of nasty attributes including greed, selfishness, and a false sense of entitlement. You can read about it soon in one of my essays. Thanks for setting the stage.

Positive change is obviously a good thing. But today, in my opinion, we are witnessing a lot of negative changes taking place before our eyes, and that certainly ain't a good thing. Many appear to be positive about what I see as negative, but I shall remain negative about what I see as negative until I see some positive changes manifesting themselves in a positive way.

One of your very best, Ron. You have managed to get it all said and pointed your finger at the one who sit on their ass and collect that welfare check. I ga-ron-tee half of those claiming welfare are able bodied enough to work. I remember way back when to go on welfare was a shameful thing, not something "owed" them. Ahhh . . . you stirred me up.
